MOMO Hub Install Issue 1987 Carrera

Hello, I am installing a MOMO Prototipo and L231 hub on my 1987 Carrera. The MOMO hub slides onto the column just fine, however the base of the hub sits about a quarter to a half inch away from the base of the column. Am I missing something regarding the fitment and how to get it to fit flush? I have searched the forum but haven't found the exact answer. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I think this one is supposed to be the Long one.

So the hub I used was a MOMO C0231 and the gap seems smaller.

I also added a J West eccentric adapter and a 25mm spacer under the wheel itself. That gets the wheel into the stock position, more or less.

—Hope this helps, Dave

Thanks Dave. I may have to go that route. Everywhere I look, it seems like I have the correct hub.

I just installed an L231 on my '87 and the gap is not that large.
I imagine your steering shaft is not fully driven into the bearings within the housing.
Using a lamp and mirror have a look at the other side of the shaft behind the master cylinder and see if the circlip (#4 below) is actually there to confirm the shaft is seated properly. If the circlip is there I'd suggest trying another L231 adapter.

Hi - not sure if this helps but I have attached two photos of my new momo hub and it seems the attachment point on yours is raised or protrudes much further beyond the collar. Unclear why they are different but that appears to be the delta.

Thanks guys. I am going to get back into it and see if I can figure it out.

For reference - from 2 different G50 cars. roughly 4.5mm gap.
