Fuel Gauge accuracy-76 911
Fuel gauge accuracy has diminished over time, full is 3/4 & empty is 1/4.
(Reserve light doesn't operate, but perhaps this is activated by lower than current 1/4 needle position?) Can float mechanism be manually adjusted to allow re-calibration? |

I should have researched Pelican technical articles before I posted. Appears a common issue, faulty level sender, so replacement unit should fix the problem.

You could also try stripping and cleaning the sender first. The rod on which it moves up and down in conjunction with the fuel level tarnishes over time and can be cleaned with light metal polish. The float then moves more freely and registers the level better

I fixed mine by removing the sender, then polishing the inside of the tube and the outside edges of the float with a mild Scotch pad, then a healthy application of Marvel Mystery Oil.
On some of our garage queens, over time, a thin deposit of fuel residue will build up on the tube walls, causing the float to hang up in the position that has been the 'normal' level during extended periods.
