Replacing PMO needle float valves
My race engine is apart for a rebuild, so I'm taking the opportunity to disassemble the PMO 50's for inspection. The carbs are over 20 years old. So far all looks good, but one question. The needle float valve tips look good visually. I believe they are rubber? They seem to be hardened. The seats look good, no oxidation or marring. Is it customary to replace the needle valves at a certain interval?

PMO Float Needles
I've had one of the rubber (viton) tips separate from the needle, causing the float bowl to over fill.
When I fixed it, I replaced all the needles - assuming the other's were not far behind. Might not be a bad idea to replace the needles while you have everything dismantled. I recall that I was able to buy just the needles (I think directly from Mr. Parr). Meanwhile, based on a quick quick search it appears most are sold as a needle & seat set. Good luck, |
