1st DE in our 911...these cars ROCK !!!

My wife and I did the 2 day Auto-X/car control Instuction class at Candlestick this weekend...plenty of fun !!!! I wanted to say thanks to all the great instructors that my wife (Sherryl) and I had the pleasure to meet and be taught the fine art of 911 drivership.... Saturday day was fun with the different little exercises that we did to help learn car control... Saturday evening sucked, 20 minutes from home a huge metal object got kicked up by a car in another lane and it smacked our windshield shattering it....a little tape and we still did the auto-x today. And the kicker is, the happened less than a mile from our tire blowout which sent us into the side of the big rig back in December, it's like the Bermuda Triangle or something for our poor 911.. Today was a blast, the first course for us was a technical course which I really, really liked. I finally got the chance to go around or get setup for corners with throttle lift over steer...wow, that is so much fun when you nail it just right to get the @$$ end of the car to go where you want it to so that you can just hit the gas and go blasting thru the corner.... pure nirvana which will be played over and over in my head...heck, I find myself walking around the house and pitching my @ss into corners before I walk around the corner to the hallway Oh, the POWER oversteer is fun also...gotta love a motor with torque The second course was way different and very fast (to me and my wife), and to be honest with you, I was scared at first since the car was right on the edge and the littlest movement from the steering wheel or gas pedal would be magnified 10X than had I just been strolling down the freeway. I did finally start to relax and trust the instructor and the car...he said keep the car at WOT from this point to this point and what do you know, the darn car stuck like it was defying the laws of physics (which I could not cheat and found out rather quickly and backwards once or twice,LOL) All in all it was a great weekend, Sherryl had a blast and is looking forward to doing auto-x's a little more frequently now and best of all, we both feel so much more comfortable just driving the 911 on the street. Now to build up our skill and nerves to hit a "real" track in the 911 Mike Mueller Antioch, CA -------------------- '91 C2 17" Fikse, lowered, rest is stock; for now '74 914 2.0 (megasquirt, full roller needle bearing suspension. w/turbo on the way, 'cause life is too short to be normally aspirated !!! ) | ||
