Steering Column Bushing Replacement
 

Ok i'm about to do the "Steering Column Bushing Replacement"

I have wobble in the steering wheel :( Is the plastic bushing thats already in there going to be a ***** to remove and if so what the best way to remove it?:confused:

Mohammed... make sure you don't replace it with another plastic bushing... it'll bust again in 2 weeks. The best kind is an aluminum bushing with a flanged end. I believe our host carries it.

You should be able to pick out the bits of your plastic bushing with a very small slotted screwdriver.

motion - I got a metal bushing from our host here. so i just need to pick the pieces out of the column and i'm good to go.

Harry - yeah i was looking at that earlier but it doesn't say how to take the bushing out it just says remove the c-clip and bang the new bushing in place. Oh yeah the 101 Projects for your Porsche book was the first thing i got. Its a tremedous resource.

In case it isn't clear, you don't need to remove the old one -- the new sleeve pushes the old, broken bushing down the steering column. You could use a vacuum cleaner to get out the little bits, but it's not necessary.

You need a long cylinder(tube) that will go over the
steering shaft to drive the metal bushing 'in'. I made one
that fits exactly for that job. If you want to borrow, or
come down 5/23 or 24, and do the job on my driveway,
