Checking back in and need some advise
 

I’ve been away from the forum for a while due to life, work etc ….
Looking around I see a lot of familiar names and it’s great to see the community is still going strong …

I have also neglected my 911 .. I have not started it in 4 years …

Looking to see (I know I can search and will) but wanted to partially check in and get advise on bringing back to life ..

Needs a new battery the optima is reading zero …

Figure would be needed to do an oil change ..
Air the tires (still decent but are aged and need replacing) ..
Remove the plugs and disable ignition ..
Turn the engine by hand a bit ..
Turn over w the starter and check oil pressure ..
New plugs ..
Check the ignition over …
Fire it up ..
Take a long needed drive and then a tire store stop.

Any suggestions or items I’ve missed would be greatly appreciated..

Looking forward to becoming a contributing member again ..

Not sure how good 4 year old gas would be ,, would likely start but not run very well, i would add some techron and let that run through, might get rid of some of the varnish build up.

Just to be safe, roll it out of the garage and have a fire extinguisher handy. But it should fire up pretty easily.

Where was it stored? I've had cars sit in unheated garages where 1 cylinder was damaged. An example is my 78 Datsun Z. One cylinder has low compression and a squirt of oil indicates that it's the rings. I think this is because at least one valve is usually open regardless of where the engine stops when shut off.

All of the hydraulics needed attention including the clutch master & slave and the brake master, calipers and rear wheel cylinders. The rubber flex hoses weren't great.

I bought tires too soon in the refurb process. They weren't dry rotted, just bald and I got side tracked again making the tires a waste. Get it running well before spending the tire money but obviously don't drive it if the tires are shot.

Plan on draining the fuel but it may run without. Startron is good stuff. Let it sit a while. PErhaps run the fuel pump and circulate the gas to stir the Startron if running the FP without engine is easy on your car.

Critters grow in diesel fuel and the diesel version has allowed me to never have to drain the diesel tanks on my 80s era Mercedes even when they have sat for years.

Stored outside under a cover here in California..
Did add stabil to the tank .. will take a look and top off w fresh fuel..
Good point on checking hoses (brake, fuel etc ..)
