If you don't intend to drive the car when it's cold outside you can plug up the lines. The AAR is used in the cold start phase. Some people have been able to repair their AAR. The inside consist of a spring and diaphram.

The other line is part of the PVC (positive crankcase ventilation) system. Normally when you open the oil tank cap, the idle would go down, but not stall, if you remove the line and the engine stall, it could be that your mixture is off. You could be running to lean.

Ok that sound right it back fires or really just pops a little bit when I let off the gas. How do I correct that?

As for the other line do I have to use that or can I just plug that? Is that corrected by the mixture screw? or should I be looking for something else? About ready to go to carbs. I can tell you this the flowmaster sounds great. I feel like I am driving a 917 at lemans.

Hey Ben

If it is backfiring when you letup on the gas check your exhaust for leaks. If you can't see it during the daytime, try running the car at night and see if it backfire, you will be able to see the flames.

Did you replace the exhaust / muffler gasket when you installed the flowmaster or did you reuse the old gasket, or was there a gasket?

Its all brand new. Gaskets axhaust everything. It seems the car just runs to lean. I have experinced the same thing with my 914-6 (carbs)when it was jetted to lean. I just tested my aux air regulator and it baffles me. I get about 3 ohms of resistance and the window that is open is very small (default?) I moved it easliy whith a screw driver. Is this unit suppose to be closed or open when operating properly? I also checked power to this part and we are good to go there. I have been told that what this devise does is basically makes a vacum leak until the engine warms up? So that being said does it need to be blocked off completly or should it be free flowing?

Thanks
Ben

the hole never completely closes as it warms up. it will be open more when it's cold.

Ok here is an update. I tested the aar and that checks good it closes completly after about 90 seconds or so. I can still blow some air through not sure if that is a problem? Here is the deal. When the engine is warm 190 or so in order to bring rpms down I have to disconect the vacum line from the decelration valve and plug it. It runs much beter at that point but seems to pop A little bit when you let off the gas. It sounds like my problem could be the aav? or the decelartion valve? ( i think unlikly). The other thing that I have mentioned before is when warmed up and I start playing with hoses if I unkink the hose going to the oil tank comeing from the rubber boot atop the fuel distributor the engine dies. Does this all make sense to you guys? I am open to suggestions. Oh yes and have a great holiday.

Ok first thanks so much for everybodies imput. Second I was adjusting the mixture screw and not the idle screw ok call me names but remeber I am a 914-6er and I am used to carbs. On question thogh! Were exactly should the crankcase breather be conected to?

Thanks
Ben
