Wipers Won't Switch Off

I have an '83SC and I now can't shut off the wipers, ie they are running at the low speed even though the stalk switch is off and the intermittent switch is off or on (no difference). They only go off when the ignition is off.

Had the same problem. Replaced the switch. About a 1/2 hour job.

Take the steering column switch off and clean and bend the contacts back into position. It should also make them park when switched off. I also tightened the contact block inside the switch with a pair of channel locks to take up the loosening of the rivets. If that doesn't work, buy a new switch from our sponsor. They don't seem too hard to put in. You'll have to pull the steering wheel first. If you have 101 projects, it tells you how, with good pictures. Then look at the project in the book on removing the switches.

Garage
Pull the fuse to keep it from running. If you live in Southern Cal, you'll never need them anyway

After getting the car painted, the same happened. In that case it turned out the ground near the pass. side hood pivot was disconnected (strange but that was was the cause).
