What does GRV mean after part numbers?

Hi,

What does GRV mean after part numbers? I have been looking at prices for the parts that my car will need after it was backed into and noticed that some parts had GRV appended to the end of the part number. Does it mean it's an aftermarket part?

For example Stoddard sells two versions of the long hood. The GRV version if about $600 cheaper than the regular version. Is there a quality difference? Is the $600 version much better somehow? What's the story?

Thanks for the help.

The GRV designator says that the primer applied to the parts is the latest environmentally friendly stuff, probably water based or low solvent based.

The old parts are a light yellow-green, the new stuff is black.

The price of parts has fluctuated greatly since the new primer was introduced. You probably will find that the old part number has been superceded to the GRV number when you place an order.

BTW, I ordered a right and left front fender for my '73 911 about 10 years ago. I got one yellow-green one and one black one - the above explanation is what the dealer told me when I questioned them.

Thanks Jim. I e-mailed Stoddard and they said the same thing.
