IDA 40 throttle blade adjustment ?

How do you adjust the centre blade. Looks like it's In tandem with the rear blade. ??
I can get the front and rear right but would like to open the centre one a tad.
Thanks lyndon

Have you removed throttle valves and are now re-installing them? If not then what is basis of statement you can get outer throttle valves aligned but not the middle one?

I would be happy to discuss throttle valve installation (I have some experience), give me a ring.

I have clearance on the rear blade. The middle and front are closed. I need to open these two blades to match the rear blade.

If throttle shafts were removed then re-installation with the cylindrical coupling requires the coupling to be rotated on the shaft so the setscrews do not try to seek their previous positions during re-assembly. This "seeking" will cause a rotational misalignment issue like the one you are experiencing.

I just noticed cylindrical coupling in your photograph, the coupling has been rotated 45 degrees from original installation, this explains some of your issue as assembly error.

So as not to use my idle pass screws as much.

Setting throttle valves in a thoughtful process is a non-trivial endeavor however, a coarse adjustment for brevity is provided:
  • Loosen setscrews on throttle shaft coupling
  • rotate coupling 1/8 turn
  • tighten setscrews on one side of coupling
  • allow throttle valves to close completely
  • tighten setscrews on other side of coupling

The above assumes throttle valves have been aligned in the bores and throttle shaft end float has been adjusted for a better result. Throttle valve alignment should be performed with valves closed and after setting coupling they should be aligned again with throttle valves just opening using the throttle stop screw to adjust that position.

It would be good to observe timing of throttle valves with respect to first progression hole, all three valves should expose first progression hole simultaneously, if not then a file can adjust the edge of a valve to advance its alignment if necessary.
