Fuel Tank Breather Valve location?
911 928-110-429-08 (This part is available, when in stock, from our host.)
![]() My charcoal canister (part of the fuel vapor recovery system) on my '86 started spewing charcoal pellets into my air box. (I would have put the image here, but the widget does not seem interested in taking my upload. Looks like mouse droppings littered on bottom of box.) I replaced the canister with a new one, and saw a suggestion that the "vacuum valve" (#11 in the illustration below; the charcoal canister is #12) should be replaced as well as "50% tested are bad". ![]() (The above diagram is from a Porsche parts search specifically for an '86 Carrera.) Does anyone know where this breather/vacuum valve is located on an '86? Thank you. |

Isn't that in the engine bay on the right hand side near the larger tubes that run to the oil tank?

Thanks for the tip, Nick. I scrutinized that area while working on the air box and canister, but will check again.
I followed the small line (fuel tank vent) from the canister back through where it enters through the wheel well near the oil tank (along with the larger line that goes to the air box), but it just loops down and heads into the firewall at the front of the engine with nothing inline. Ken |

I'll be out in my shop a little later. I'll take a look to see if I can find it. If I find it, I'll post a pic of the location.

This part does not exist on an 3.2 Carrera, but does on a 964. The digram is for a 964, not an '86 Carrera. Parts lookup I was using misled me.
