Help me make a tool kit for my SC
Hey everyone,
I am wanting to put together a tool kit to keep in my car, especially when I go on long drives. My SC didn't have the tool kit from the factory but I do have a jack/lug wrench. What would be a good list of tools to keep in my frunk? I already bought a spare fan belt but I need the fan pully wrench. Thanks! |
I was in the same boat and put together a basic kit in a small duffel.
-Fire extinguisher -Breaker bar with sockets for wheel lugs and fan nut - Viair air compressor - Tire plug kit - 4in1 screwdriver -Wire snips (to pull nail from tire) - LiPo jump box - Fan belt - Extra fuses and DME relay - Small crescent wrench. Should keep me outta basic trouble👍 |

Get a Porsche factory spark plug socket. That is the ONE tool that most recommend you not try and replace/duplicate with standard tools.

Add in the correct size hex socket to undo the bolts/screws that hold the skid plate on so the fuel pump can be accessed.

I know its a bit of a pain to pull the plugs with standard tools but I didnt find it that hard. Whats the difference between that and a Porsche one?

The tool for spark plugs is pretty genuine tool..work well....you need 10mm Alllen wrech for it in your tool kit

I did this too. Pretty much your list, but I also included a hex socket that fit the CV joint bolts, along with some ratchet extensions. I actually had to use this by the side of the road once when a CV came loose.
You need the special wrench to hold the fan pulley so you can loosen the fan nut to change the fan belt. I also carry a decent scissor jack instead of the Porsche jack (I don't even have a Porsche jack), and the jack pad that slips in the jack receivers in the rockers so I can lift there with the scissor jack. While trying to find a fan pulley wrench, I came up with this from my old KTM dirtbike, it's a rear shock spring adjuster, you can find them for $15-25 online, I do need to grind down the small nub a little bit but it'll work just fine.
