Toyo Proxy T1-S vs. Bridgestone SO-3

I'm in the market for high performance street tires at a reasonable price and have found the Toyo Proxy T1-S and Bridgestone SO-3s to be similarly priced for the 225/45/16 and 245/45/16 sizes I want. While I have heard great things about the SO-3s, I know nothing about the T1-S.

Does anyone have any experience with T1-S? How do they compare to SO-3s?

Thanks in advance

Pete, I just ran through a set of the T1-S's and have since switched to the SO-3's. IMHO the SO-3's are a much better tire.

I put a about a thousand miles on them, including a DE this last weekend, and could not be happier. I believe that the grip is better than the T1-S's in both dry and wet conditions and they should both last about the same number of miles.

This is my second set of SO-3's and I will probably put them on my other cars as well so I definitely recommend them. Good luck.

Pete,

Call Jeff Curran at Group A Wheels. He sells Toyo tires and can probably give you some insight. He has been suppling race teams with tires and wheels for years, so he knows pros and cons about most manufacturers.

While you are talking to him have him quote you some tire prices (I'm pretty sure he can get any manufacturer). Tell him I refered you and you'll get a good deal.

His Phone # is (480) 813-4776. Try after 9:30 pacific time.

P.S.- He drives a Porsche so he can't be all bad:p

SO-3's seems to be the popular street tires for those with a decent budget around the porsche community.

I have had two sets of SO3's they are excellent tires for road use. Great on dry road, decent in the rain. All of them required very little weight to balance.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a "friend of a friend" who is in the tire business that sells Toyo's but not Bridgestones. After reviewing his pricing, Tirerack has much better deals. The Toyo's were quoted at $155 ea for 225/45/16 and $166 ea for 245/45/16. Tirerack has SO-3s in the same size at $166 and $176, respectively. I think its time for SO-3s.

How about some Toyo Proxes RA-1's, best tires i have owned, great handling

I have S-03 in those sizes in my 944S2 and I was surprised to discover that they have the same width - both are about 8.5 inches wide. Great tires though.

Nestorjw,

Do you use the Toyo RA-1 on the street? If so how many miles do you get from them?

Another Pelican is coming out to get some RA-1s and ROH wheels this weekend from the guy I mentioned above. He is using them for track use, but I'm considering them for the street (we don't get much rain here).

Any other feedback on those tires would be appreciated.

C U L8R,
I am running RA-1s on the street and have been very happy with them.
If you don't get much rain I would seriously consider them. As far as milage, I've only had mine for 1500 miles so I can't give info just yet. I will say that they stick better than any (street) tire I've ever used.

Good Luck,

Ted
