Injector issue questions on a 3.2
Fired up my 3.2 for the first time this spring and it was immediately running on five cylinders. Used my infrared thermometer and determined it was #5. Confirmed 5 is getting spark and used a noid light and confirmed power to the injector. So I'm thinking the injector isn't functioning. Also checked the injector resistance and within spec.
Was going to remove the injector and place in a baby food jar and run the engine to see if fuel is getting dispersed. Is this the best way forward? Regarding removal of the injector, I've got half the air box removed. Can't quite see around the rest of it and can't remember if the fuel lines going to the front of the passenger fuel rail (by #6) will flex enough to remove the rail or if I need to break the fuel line connection there. I just had the injectors cleaned a couple years back. I presume these can get stuck if they sit for awhile. Assuming no fuel comes out, any thoughts on remedying this myself? Thanks for your help. |
They are easy taken out so i would swap the suspect injector #5 with cylinder #4 and see if the problem moves to #4. Finding a replacement should not be difficult either.

Quick update. I put a 9v battery to the injector and got it to click repeatedly. Just started it up and all six running.
