Power Window Operation Without Power
So I'm in the process of disassembling my SC for paint and I got myself in a bind. The door frames and glass need to come out but the power is already disconnected from the car and window motors. Any way to get the windows up and down without reconnecting everything? I hate those damned connections on the power window switch.

Jump the connections with a battery?
|
Power and ground from your jumper battery to the two center wires that went to the switch from the motor. One way goes up, and other goes down.

Booo
Well I was hoping there was a disconnect for the motor but that's life. Thanks. |
You can remove the motor from each side (3 screws) then you should be able to move the regulator and get the glass out.

Great! Glad it worked. Now keep the Pelican thread on the window switch wiring as you are going to need that at some point. I just installed power windows in my 1973 911T and used that post to wire my switches. cheers, Greg

I got tired of the power window switch wiring decades ago. A pack of multicolor metallic Sharpies later, this seems like the easiest solution...

That's pretty clever, I like it.

Yes, I agree. Now what we need is someone to tell us how to convert from 5 pin window switches to the old style 4 pin switches with the chrome bezels. The chrome bezel switches look sharp in a back-date or older 911.

Love this idea. Thanks !!

Older thread but glad I caught this...have 1000 photos of different repairs and this takes some of that out of the equation. |
I'm glad Pelican's are finding my tip helpful.
Ironically enough, I've since converted to manual windows on the '89 from the above photos. |
Great idea. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
