Question Will a 1997 intercooler fit into a 1976 911?

Will a 1997 Turbo Factory 993 Intercooler fit into a 1976 911 and work with a 1990 C2 3.6 engine? Here is a picture of the intercooler. Thanks

You will need a bigger wing to fit it under, probably the whole decklid will have to be replaced. I bought a GT2 style wing from MA Shaw that will work with my 3.6 TT swap. The intercooler is made for a twin turbo set up. 1990 C2 3.6 turbo motors are single turbo. So I'm not sure how the plumbing will work or if you can use the whole cooler with one turbo at all. However, If you are going twin turbo, it should be fine.

If I go with twin turbos will the 3.8 GTP wing work? Also which turbos should I use? K27? Will the Twin turbos work ok on the '90 C2 engine? Thanks

The GTP wing will probably work. Although, to be safe I'd call and ask a company that makes body pieces, to see whether there is the same amount of room in there.

You shouldn't run twin K-27 turbos. These provide enough boost even when you just have one, so they are too large. The car would have tons of turbo lag.

The GT2 used twin K24 turbos. I think the regular 993 twin turbo used K16 turbos, but I'm not sure. With the 993 twin turbo turbos (again, K16, I think), you are limited to about 520 hp (so I hear), but they cost a LOT less than K24s. With K24s I believe that the sky is the limit on power. However, a set costs 5000 (2500 each). The K16s are cheap if I remember correctly. So you might want to use a turbo made by a different company if you want more than 520 hp but don't want to spend 5000. I don't really know about the models of turbochargers made by companies other than KKK.

I think you should be able to run twin turbos on your '90 C2. My 3.6 twin turbo was built from a na 993 engine... with new pistons and cylinders etc. You'll need a new exhaust to plumb it.

I hope this helps, good luck
