yes the 3.0 will fit . the best answer is to drop a 123 bluetooth distributor in the engine .
It is very important to be able to set the timing advance and retard as the boost comes in
If you do not manage the boost it will work but not up to it's potential, idle will be tough as well

No, I think they turn different directions, 77 clockwise, 79 counter clockwise. ??

I see what you did there! :D

The 3.0 turbo engine as well as the 3.0 Carrera uses the 2.7L crankshaft which spins the distributor CLOCKWISE.
The 911SC 3.0 turns the distributor COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.

You unfortunately can't use this distro in your buddies 77 turbo 3.0 motor.

You need to change or convert the SC CCW distributor drive gear to CW rotation.

I'm looking for a 3.0 SC distributor, if you want to sell that one.

Thanks all! If a 3.0 spins backwards, wouldn’t that affect the advance mechanism?

Would you need to change the gear on the crankshaft to match the distributor drive gear cw rotation?

sorry for my mistake , I just did an 87 turbo engine at 3.3 , in this engine the 3.0 sc distributor works
I hope this clears things up
