911 stopped running, won’t restart
‘89 911: Does crank but won’t fire. Let sit a day but then restarted and stopped again.
|
Hopefully something simple like a DME relay. Might try swapping that out for a start.
|
Well, not much information to go on but my first thought is a spark issue, a CDI that's failing.
I would start with checking the usual culprits...spark, fuel issues and go from there. Walts suggestion is a good one...DME relay is an easy place to start |
It could be the points on a old 911, or the crank sensors on a 3.2.
Mark, we need to know the year and of your 911 as a minimum to start to make guesses. |

Its easier to help when you say what youve tried and checked. Is there fuel in the tank?. Can you hear the pump etc etc etc
|
An engine basically needs fuel, spark, and compression to start.
We know it has compression, so next time it no starts, check for fuel and spark. |

As I say starts but will then shut down and not restart but does if I let it sit awhile. I thought crank sensor and responses saying DME relay are helpful places to check |
To check for spark, my favorite method is to connect a timing light. If the timing light flashes, you have spark.
If you have spark but no fire, then apparently you don't have fuel. |
