How hard is it to weld those 911 mounts to the 912?

Has anyone done this already? I have a 912 that must fit a 2.7..........

I have done it.

It is not hard at all if you can weld, you just have to remove those little brackets across the back corner and then weld in the mounts.

Watch out the steel is pretty thin.

Best of luck, I did the conversion over a weekend, hardest thing was finding the flywheel.

Cheers
Steve

How did you find a flyweel for $150?

I had to get one made from a billet of steel, cost me $450 AU. But it is about 20% lighter than the std Porsche flywheel.

Have fun with the project, they can be never ending.

It is a standard factory issue 215mm flywheel used from 67-69` . Thats what you must use for the 901 tranny . I have 2 of them . And 3 counting the one in my car.

Kurt

BTW when I needed the one for my car I had to buy it new from the dealer. I think it was over $350.00. Maybe over $400.00 . Had to have it !

I could not find one anywhere in Australia.

Flying one over from the States would have cost me about $800.

The light weight flywheel helps a short stroke enginge rev real quick.

Thanks Capt.Crunch, keep pushing the value for original early 912's up. Check the 912 board, I remember some mention of conversions and engine mounts.
