Wiper Arms, 964 and 911 different?

I replaced my wiper arms and they are different than my older ones. I was told that the ones I have are for the 964 and these supercede the older ones. Problem is now my wiper arm caps don't work. Can anyone tell me what the part number is for the caps and what the Pelican part number is? I can't find them on there website.

Much thanks!

In short: the part number for the cap you need is 928-628-623-01, possibly with a C on the end. Assuming you mean the cap that is an exterior part, which covers the end of spindle-thing that the wiper arm sits on, that is.

There's another part listed as a cap which sits between the crank mechanism and the wiper blade, along with four rubber bushings. That was the same for all 964s - the part number for it is 964-628-339-00.

As an FYI, there were two different types of wiper arms/caps used on the 964 - the '91 and earlier cars used 911-628-313 (314 for the right) -00, and from '92 it was 964-628-028-01 and 02 for left and right wipers respectively. The earlier cap is 928-628-623-00, the later one is 928-628-623-01 (maybe 01C).

The earlier arms are single-spring, the later ones have two springs - that seems to be the best way to tell them apart, I can't see the part number is written on them anywhere.

Hope this helps

edit: added 'in short' bit and alternative cap

Thanks a ton, that sure helps. I'm not sure if mine are single or has double springs as I don't have them in front of me, but I know the new ones are wider at the base and it seems like the "gusseted" shape of the arm goes up further than the old ones. So I am assuming I have the double spring version.

So bottom line is I think I need p/n 928-628-623-01. I am assuming there is no difference between the 01 and the 01C.

Sorry to hash it over again, but just want to clarify. I can't believe such a tiny part is causing me such confusion.

Thanks again!

If you want the cap bit that goes on the end of the shaft, then yes, you need 928-628-623-01. The C on the end refers to the colour - satin black. Black is the only colour I can see listed for that part, though - I'd just ask for the part without the C and if there's a choice of colours, you can sort it out then. Oh, and don't forget you'll need two of them (easy to forget that kind of thing, trust me ).

It's part number 17 in this diagram:

Cheers

Yup, #17 is what I'm looking for. Yeah, it's kind of a bummer they don't mention you need to update the caps as well. Oh well, could be worse.....

Thanks for everyone's help.
