Karma & Paint Chip Repair

Got the car working perfectly over the weekend. New cv/axles, valve adjustment, 2-wire head temp, O2, etc.

Drove into work today to enjoy my hard work and got the mother of all rocks hits in the middle of the hood. Chip is 1/4 -1/2 inch with some primer/bare metal showing.

Usually, I just use touch up paint and leave it alone, but as this is a very obvious spot, is there a way to sand the spot flat? What's the technique?

So has anyone tried/used the Mothers California Gold Paint Chip Repair that our host sells? http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/autocat/load_page.cgi?page_number=1&bookmark=0&model=DWKS&currsection=mothr1

You didn't say where the rock came from? But a good pratice is to avoid getting behind construction vehicles like the plague if you can.

Thanks for all the info. Chip is looking better already. Slight dent too which I'm inclined to leave as a battle scar.

Tough thing is I don't know where the rock came from. There was an SUV changing lanes about 150-175 yards ahead of me, and no trucks around.
