SC rear seat rust repair

Stripping down SC, found some repair work on seat base. Looks like the repair is falling apart. Wondering best repair approach -- Bondo? JB Weld? Im not a welder and prefer a home solution vs taking to a repair shop.

I am deleting the rear seats.

Thanks, Mike

That is a common rust spot, water gets under the rear window seal and runs downhill until it pools there.

Good quality replacement panels are available, some donor metal too if you ask around.

Nothing to do but keep wire brushing away from the rust area until you have clean metal and then cut and weld replacement metal.

You are most welcome. There are multiple threads showing that work being done here.

Don't be shy with questions, and there isn't any special skill required to wire brush and then cut the metal replacement panel to size. It might be small enough of a repair that you don't even need to buy a panel.

I'd suggest you also start looking around for a mobile welder near you, typically way less costly then a specialized Porsche shop for this sort of thing.

If you're handy, don't rule out renting a mig welder and learning to do that yourself. There's a learning curve, but it's more straightforward than you might think. Lots of good YouTube videos out there. When I found some rot on the floor of the trunk in my Ferrari and was quoted 4-5K to have it repaired professionally, I learned how to use an angle grinder and mig weld and did the job myself. It was an empowering experience. Probably did the job better in the end. Also saved a ton of money.
