fitting extra oil cooler

I have the carerra type fender cooler. But I want to fit an extra one up front in the RSR type bumper. Oil temps nearing 150 Deg C.
What is the best way to plumb it in? Does it matter which goes first for oil flow?
What is the difference in single or double pass cooler?
Thx
Alan

I have fitted a second (or third actually, there is one on the engine) in the left front fender. I bought a standard (same as in the right fender) oil cooler here on Pelican. The new oil cooler is mounted upside-down for easier access to the plumbing, with a few adjustments... I have connected the two oil coolers in series, so the oil from the oil pump first hit the original cooler, and then continues to the second. And then return lines to the return point of the original cooler. I used flexible lines under the front vallance between the two coolers.
The RSR style oil cooler location is very vulnerable to road bumps or impact of objects, as is sits very low and all the way in the front. It may look cool, but I would avoid it.

Hi Alan,

I was able to find a number of resources on the addition of a front mounted oil coolers used with the factory cooler.

On our DIY page you can find this article which contains a good bit of information and outlines parts needed to make it happen

Searching through our forums I found a couple past topics. It seems sourcing what hard-lines to get has been a past subject.
Some people seem to get innovative with AN fittings as well.

Hope that helps!

-Matt

Thanks guys - will do some more homework. Not sure if I have any spare room in the other fender (washer bottle), but will look at options. Yes - vunerable in front - but likely the only spare space.
Thx
Alan

So, checking - I do have some room in there. Looking at that option right now.

Just curious, why do you have 150C oil temps? Under what conditions? I just drove my 3.6 400 miles in 32-36C air temps with 70% humidity (much harder to cool the oil with higher humidity) and my oil temp was never above 90. Thats in a 3.6 conversion car with only a front mount in an RSR bumper, and was on the street (3,500 RPM). My 3.2 Carrera runs well above that, but I know its not another oil cooler thats needed. I know because my friends have them and their cars sit at 90 or so in the same conditions mine at/above 100C. 3.2's have 2 oil coolers stock though (engine mounted and fender).

Now if this is your track car, and it's summer temps down there.......for sure as many as you can. You just didn't talk about the use and conditions when its that hot.

I ask because I thought about throwing another cooler at my 3.2, and everyone said that is useless until it cools like my friends do. If the third cooler helped, I woudl just be putting a bandaid on the real problem.

Track. Not summer, autumn. But also the tuning I am running seems to have thrown another 20 deg C in the mix. Def want it lower.
