We have "LIFT"-off: New lift finally installed-Pix included

Hey all,

I've been shopping for a lift for quite some time. After much research, I decided to go with an Eagle 4-post lift in my garage. I lucked out on the height, so I decided it would be a sin not to utilize the space. I ended up getting the unit on ebay, which was much cheaper than the catalog price.

My use is for small stuff, and to learn some of the bigger stuff to perform on my car. Also, I only have a 2 car garage, and wanted to increase the space so I can store the P-car in the winter. That's why I opted for a 4 post as opposed to a 2 post, which leaves the wheels hanging. Not too good for storage of a car. With that, I got a jack tray, which allows me to easily pull wheels off the car while it's up. I must say that I can fit almost anything under the P-car while it's up.

I'm very excited, and just wanted to share my new toy. Here's some pix:

SEE PICTURES A FEW RESPONSES BELOW THIS!! SORRY, TOOK ME A WHILE TO GET THEM UP PROPERLY.

REGARDS,

I couldn't even tell you the password if I wanted to. It's been too long since I used AOL to host. Anyhow, I can't seem to get the pix up on the thread.....too big........and too much of a pain for me to reduce. Any volunteers to reduce them if I email them?

I feel pretty stupid here. When I click on "img" to insert an image, a "script prompt" pops up with "http" and "enter text to be formatted"......I have no idea what that has to do with me browsing for a picture. I'm a bit confused here, as I have been able to post a picture in the past. Any help?

thanks and sorry,

Hi,

My ceiling is just a bit less than 11 feet, and yes, the lift is bolted to the ground. The bolting is not necessary, but I did it just to be safe....not mentioning the driver of the van. I can finally clean my wheel wells easily and keep my other car clean too. You can see how dirty it gets outside my house, I must have a million trees around my house. Part of the reason why I got the lift, the one parked outside has been taking abuse for years.

By the way, no leaks here. There are trays that go across the opening, so even if it did, it wouldn't hit the car.

regards,

Jon, I have the same lift, but it came with steel plates that sit it the brackets for the ramps, to prevent the car from rolling off. I also flip the ramps up on the deck right behind the rear wheels for the same reason. Garage floors are usually 'pitched' towards the doors, and I don't trust the parking brake.....

BTW, Eagle support has been very good. A few years ago I called to ask about some pulley wear I was experiencing, and they sent me updated replacement parts N/C.

Very Nice...I'd like to do the same.

Doesn't look like you have a lot of room to work on the passenger side. I guess if that's the case you could back the care onto the lift.

May I ask what the ebay cost was?

Hi,

As far as cost goes, most of the "7000" lifts eagle sells on ebay go for under $2000. Shipping to NY is about $250, so when you compare that to catalog, about $2995 (includes shipping), it's a great deal.

Additionally, when you purchase on ebay, the lightweight aluminum ramps are included (a $200 option!). I don't work for them, they are just very reasonable and have a great service/support dept.

Here's a recent example of an ebay sale for the same lift....

Looks good. I noticed your garage door, when open, is very close to the ceiling. Maybe it's a dumb question, but did you move the tracks? At standard height I can see the car fitting, while on the lift.

Chris,

Great question.....yes, I had to extend the tracks in order for the cars to fit when the door is open.

Jon - I have been thinking about doing this for years - I ahve 4 cars and a 3 car garage. My gargae is only about 6.5 high. I have never been able to figure out if I have enough room to stack 2 911s. Any idea how much room is left on top if you were to put your 911 on the bottom and set the upper deck as low as it could go?

Jon, I'm laughing at your collection of cars. I'm in the same boat as you...I have an '85 black carrera, a silver Odyssey, and I want to sell my 300e for a BMW 330i.
