Year Change Oil Drain/Strainer Cover

What year did Porsche change from the round cover with the drain plug in it to a drain plug directly into the case? My 1983 911SC has drain plug in case, no cover.

i believe it was around october 1983 the Porsche started to use Carrera engine cases

TSB 83-06 Crankcase and Related Parts for 911SC indicates that the new case was put in service in March 1983 starting with engine number 64D3717. This changed the oil pump to one with an attached screen, intermediate shaft cover and how to measure parallel alignment of camshaft sprockets.
