Porsche 911 St tire sizes

Does anyone know the correct size of the Porsche ST tire? I have been told that the front rims are 7 inch and the rear rims are 9 inch. Please advise.

I run 8's and 9's on mine.

I don't think there was any correct size for an ST, depends on whether they were for road use or rally use.

Well, I'm presuming that you mean the 1972 version, which is what most people think of when they call a car an ST.

front 4.75/10.0-15 on 7"wheels
rear 4.75/11.3-15 on 9" wheels

I think 7 & 9 /15s were listed in the sport purposes factory catalog and how they were delivered.

However, I suspect those that raced them changed to what ever was available and improved there competitiveness. Some pics show Mini-Lite wheels in the back that I think were 10x15's.

Someone may be-able to correct me on this.

The mini lites were 9 inches wide, typically.

Don't dis Chris, as he may be the best resource to answer your question, considering his car has factory ST steel flares and ST wheels.

Chris, what tires are you running on the car these days?

Woops, I meant to refer to cnielsen. I was being tongue in cheek about "dis", and also didn't notice he doesn't post with his first name.

Well I was not trying to dis-respect Chris I was trying to determine tire size not wheel or rim size. I appreciate the input on wheel size but it was not needed. I was merely pointing out that I needed a tire size. Sorry Chris if you were offended

The factory kind of used anything that worked for the STs. They were also a work in progress because they were constantly developing the cars. There is a whole range of "things that are correct" but it seems that 7 & 9 /15 was a common size. Obviously 8 & 9 / 15 was a possibility as shown by Chris's car.

You are going to have to pick your own version...

i tried a 11" Fuch on my ST and it is too wide. We are currently trying to find a way to make it fit with the Michelin 23/62.
We have later 78-89 arms on the car and thinking that original 1972 arms and hubs might make fit better on this 1972 tub.
