Will these fit?

16x6 fuchs with 215 45 16 tires

On a 73 911 no body modifications?

I have the fuchs and I am looking for the right size tire for track & autox.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian, Your 73 is a narrow body car and a 76 has flares. I can't tell you if it will fit (Early 911 owners will have to chime in, or you could do a search) but the two cars listed are different.

Thanks Jeff

I thought the first cars to get the larger flares (other than RS) were the SCs.

I did a search and the consensus is 205 55 16 on 7" wheels will not fit without rolling the lips. The diameter of the 215 45 is about the same as what I currently have but the section width is a little less than 1/2" wider.

Hopefully, the early guys will chime in!

I could be totally crazy, but to me the fenders on my roommates 72 are the same as the ones on my 76.

I pretty sure the 77 was the first year with SC flares.

The "baby flares" started with the 2.7 liter cars - my '75 has them. They are not as big as SC flares. FWIW, I have 7x16 Fuchs all around. This information won't help with a non-flared car, though.

This is a 205/55-16 on the back of my 70 911. I ran these before i rolled the lips too, but it is close. With a little neg camber i have thought of trying a 215, but why risk rub over a centimeter?

PS- All four wheels are 7's.

Paul

Paul,

Again, I think you car is very cool. You've done yourself proud.

When I find some time { when I find my camera } I'll shoot a pic of my '69 lowered, lots of neg camber with 205 16's { tires don't last long }

Always a pleasure to see pics of your car.

Regards. 2.0

I believe some of the '74-'77 cars had flares and some did not, I think starting in '78 they all had flares.
