I found a related thread on the Rennlist 911 site: "Topic: Fitment for tall guys" posted 11-02-2002 18:59

I'm 6'6" and have an SC coupe with Sunroof. My hair (what's left of it) brushes the headliner slightly, but I don't notice it. I recline my seat somewhat just because I like it that way. That may provide some extra room. I've had people watch me get in the car because they don't believe I can - and I'm fairly comfortable.

I'm only 6'1", but have fairly long legs. I found that legroom (more specifically knee/thigh room) was an issue until I went to a smaller wheel (Momo 350mm Competition) and a spacer to move it closer. I can also recline the seat a bit, giving more headroom.

My 2.7 is a non-sunroof car, which is good, because I like to sit upright (not reclining) and I am 6'2". I can wear a ball cap and still not touch the roof! My seat isn't even fully back. When it's fully back, I can't reach the pedals properly!

nostatic,

I have lots of wheel spacer questions:
Where did you get it?
Who makes it?
How much was it?
How much closer did it make the wheel?

I can sit in my SC without having my head hit the headliner, but I have to move the seat back and slouch in the seat to do it.
No big deal, but when I do that my arms are fully extended to reach the wheel, my knees are hitting the knee pads, and the gear shift might as well be in the glove compartment. Not exactly optimum ergonomics.

I've considered a steering wheel extention and a short shifter but I think I'll just lower the seat mounts one of these days.
I install a Prinz racing seat for track work and it gives me over an inch more headroom but it is too much of a pain getting in and out of for daily use.

I'm 6'7" and I fit snug, in a Targa (or non-sunroof coupe)...with a very small diameter wheel. Island says everytime he sees me getting out of my car it looks like my car is giving birth, to me

It's really not that bad though, I can still fit with my helmet on.

How about a targa? Not just because I have one. They just have a bit more head room. I'm 6'2". No problems. Just a thought.

I've only sat in two Targas, but they did not seem to give noticeably more headroom. The other thing is that I'll want to use it in rainy conditions and everything that I've heard about SC Targas is that they leak. How is yours been for leaks?

The other thing that I remember reading about Targas (and Cabriolets) is that they have less leg room because that part of the body is designed to take more load. Have you noticed that?

Oly, Not really any problems with leaks. Well, it will if you blast the hose directly at the seal when washing it. The leg room is fine for me. You do bring up a good point though. I have never noticed if there were a difference between the coupe and the targa leg room wise.
