911 3.2 What did I break?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1652060127.jpg

I was changing the Decklid Shocks and snapped off the white plug with the brown wire. The wire has 698611-7 on it.

What is the name of the white plug and where on PP is a part to replace it?

Thank you,

Ed

It's the engine temp sensor. It goes to the #3 cylinder head.

Pretty sure that’s the cylinder head temperature sensor (as opposed to the speed and reference sensors). You will want to pull out the metal plate that holds the connectors together and disconnect the sensor from the harness. If you’re lucky you only broke the connector on the sensor side and not the harness side.

Part number is 930 606 915 00

Also looks like the hose part of your vac/venturi line is cracked, probably causing a vac leak (brass tube transition to rubber hose).

A short length of shrink tubing will fix the hose crack for cheap.

Let us know if it idles better once the hose is sealed.

You got that backwards. He is lucky IF he broke the engine harness side. That connector is a dime a dozen (in black) and he can swap the pins over without even crimping on new ones.

If he broke the connector on the sensor side, he would have to REPLACE the entire sensor and that can become something really big, especially if the sensor refuses to come out of the head.

Good catch!

Another good fix is to cut off the crimped collar, remove the rubber and then use two different sizes of hose: one to fit the small tube and a larger one to fit the larger. The larger hose will fit over the smaller and a simple hose clamp makes a conventional seal.

If you put a bit of hot glue on the cracked hose and shrink over it, you have a solid connection. In the electrical terminal you can temporarily plug it back in and zip tie until parts come in.

BTW - The connectors are called "Junior Power Timer Connectors". Make sure you get ones with the correct number of connections because that style of connector is available with different number of contacts.
