Angry Hit again?! Grrrrrrrrrr...(pics)

For those of you who'll remember, late last year my car was the victim of a gutless hit and run. I woke up and went to my car to find the left rear quarter area bashed in and no one in my apartment building fessing up. I posted pics of the damage on the board and eventually, I got my insurance company to pay and the damage repaired. Think lightning won't strike in the same place twice? Guess again...

So last night I go to my mother's house for a visit. She lives in a quiet cul de sac so I park on the street, still taking care to get most of my car up in the yard. What do I wake to this AM? Yep, bashed in...in the same &^%$# place on the car! I wish I could dig up the old pics, but these will have to do...they look the same after all. Jeeeeeeeez...another round for the 'daily driver' in the old body shop. Thanks, Arkansas...keep crunching me you %$#@%$#@$#@ers! You may slow me down, but you'll never stop me!
Ryan

open the pic with whatever photo editor you use. Center it on the screen and hit the PtrSc key. Now open a Microsoft Paint (if you have it) or another photo editor and select a new blank image. Now hit your Ctrl key and hold it down...and also hit the V key (this is to paste the image). Now you have remove the excess image from around the main image and save it at a lower resolution and size...jpg format is best.

Or email them to me and I will post them.

Ryan,

If you have WindowsXP, go to microsoft.com and search for PowerTools. On that page there is a program called ImageResizer. Once you install it, you can reduce picture sizes by right clicking on the particular image and choosing resize.

If you don't have XP, can't help you.

P.S. Sorry about the bad news.

Ryan,
Just do a web search for Irfanview and download this wonderful freeware.
(And thanks to Warren Hall for turning many of us on to Irfanview.)

I agree, looks like an SUV.
I wonder if a video system could be hooked up to a motion sensor/car alarm. It would be great to catch a hit and run incident like this.

Thanks for the replies...yes it does hurt, but on Memorial Day somehow doesn't seem as bad as yesterday...

K9handler, I'm just now getting back on the board and see that you posted my pics. Thanks for your help again!

The damage is a little bit on the high side...and there is evidence of black paint. My mother has good neighbors, I did my checking around, but everyone who lives by us was easily eliminated. One neighbor said he was up at 4 am and thought he heard a 'thunk' and looked outside to see the paper delivery guy. He says he thinks that he drives a black Jeep Wrangler...

Guess who will be casually calling the circulation manager tomorrow to ask if by chance a certain deliverer may have reported 'bumping' a subscriber's car. But my best guess? I have another $250 deductible to cough up. Last time the total repair cost was ~$700 including the deduc. Looks like a little more wave on this damage, but damn if it isn't right in the same darn spot. I guess that's better than getting macked on the opposite side. It could have been worse - he could have taken out my rear lights or hit further ahead and included the door, etc.
Ryan

Hey guys,
I forgot to say thanks for the leads on the image freeware to reduce the size of image files. Have a great, dent-free day!

Wow. I guess my damage was a little more than I realized at first. It's hard to see it, but the fender has been pressed down towards the tire just enough that I rub when rolling over a speed bump. I hope my Allstate rep gets back to me and the process rolling soon...SCRAPE!

Yes, that looks like a high hit from someone in a pickup or SUV. Appears that the bumper was either chrome or white. That really SUCKS when people are so lacking in integrity that they can hit someone and just drive off. Looks like the metal can be worked smooth again, if you take it back to the same shop, you can have them practice on your fender again. It could have been much worse.
