Fuel Pump Check Valve?
Hey all, I’m a little confused.
I’m installing a new fuel pump into my 78’ 911SC and had a few questions. It’s a new Bosch unit with an internal check valve, so do i have to remove the factory check valve fitting or is running 2 check valves fine for across all the different models? Also, mine seems to have the check valve built into the banjo fitting verses the threaded bit. The search function makes me feel that most people have the check valve built into the male threaded portion What’s the beef?

The fuel pump for 1978-79 has an internal check valve. The fitting for the banjo bolt is just an adapter. Photos here.
The check valve in your photo appears to be for an earlier CIS fuel pump.

![]() Kevin- I am surprised to see this as well. The pump you have removed is not original to your 78 SC. This Banjo check valve in your photo is from an early 911 73-76 or possibly 77 Fuel Pump that is a "side-Outlet" design. They are VERY costly ($800-900 from Porsche or our host) to replace today. This part (check valve) will not work with your new Bosch Flow-through pump and you DO NOT need two.. Don't throw it away, as this is quite expensive to replace and you can sell it to someone with an earlier 73-76 911 who may need one. Your new pump will accept the Feed hose Banjo fitting you should have presently like this.... Be certain to use NEW Copper Crush Rings for a proper "Leak-Proof" seal. Hope this helps. Len
