Need to ship 4 tires need input
I've got to ship 4 Michelin 235/55/17 tires from NC to Michigan. Would it be cheaper to ship individually or 2 or all 4 together. Is shipping without a box a cheaper option? I've typed in the dimensions of 1 bare tire on the ups website and got an estimate of $49. Any cheaper options? Thanks

Check with your shipper but I was told by FedEx to just ship each individually with a label taped to them, no box, no wrapping. Just tire and shipping label.

When ordering tires online (e.g. tire rack) I always get two pair strapped together, no box, with the label stuck straight to the tread, both Fedex and UPS. Make sure it doesn't fall off!
So that makes a total of two "packages" for a set of four tires. Should be straightforward. YMMV |
Use the online calculator to determine which is cheapest. I have shipped several sets and have consistently found that two tires strapped together was a little cheaper. I just stack and strap them in multiple places, didn't box them up.

+1 to what tk32 wrote above.

yeah i would do pairs taped together. If you pay in person take them to the ups terminal rather than the ups store it is cheaper. Or if you pay online. I havnt bought straight from the ups website lately so i cant say on that I usually do it through paypal.com/shipnow and then drop it off at the ups store

Pirateship.com offers really cheap ups shipping rates- much cheaper than ups online.

+1 on PirateShip.com, cheaper and you can price check all online easily! Ship them bare, in pairs or singles, shrink wrap if you're really worried.
