Replaced signal stalk- created problems
Hello all-
I’ve been using this forum for great info for a long time- thank you all in advance! I have an ‘83 911SC. I had the failed turn signal stalk issues with my headlights - brights going on over bumps, ultimately staying on then headlight failure. I followed the steps to separate the contacts, no luck. I just replaced the stalk with a new one, this didn’t fix the headlights. I replaced the bulbs, still nothing. I did notice the plugs for the headlight bulbs were burned/melted, but no problem getting the old bulbs out/ new in. Contacts looked ok. When I push or pull the stalk, the blue hi beam indicator light in the speedo does not come on. Then I noticed the fog lights don’t work - they were working prior to replacing the stalk. The light in the fog light switch works with the other dash lights, but goes off when I pull it it to the on position. Driving lights and turn signals work. I see that a new headlight switch is over $500. I’d prefer to know if that’s the problem before ordering one! Any thoughts would help. Thank you! |

Hi all-
I took another look this am. Here is a pic of the headlight switch wiring. I think it looks good?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653583280.jpg |
Make sure the 6 pin plugs under the dash going through the firewall are fully seated.
Check your headlight fuses are still good and you have continuity across the fuses from top to bottom. The fuses to check are 5-8 counting back from headlight. |
Thank you- will do…
