Birth year racecar 83', aka CaptainAmerica

Psuedo title - "Born in 83', a conversion story"

I enjoy Duane's content and in the spirit of things wanted to set the title of my conversion thread to that, but I didn't want to take away from his series. Maybe one day he will do an 83 hence the psuedo title.

Happy 4th to all! In honor of that I thought it would be patriotic to show my recent purchase. Maybe some of you recognize the previous owner as he raced it a lot around the NJ/NY/PA area. It is an 83 euro car that has been fully gutted and turned into a racecar. While it does not seem economical to convert it back to a street car, it was an SC coupe I could afford (under 20k).

Stats sheet:
83 Euro car
3.0L engine with upgraded internals to a 3.2 - so 3.2 living in a 3.0 case
Engine is on its second rebuild, 06 was the last time due to leakdown numbers getting worse and a spun bearing
PMO carbs
Rebuilt trans with Quafe LSD
Dyno'd 269 to the wheels
993TT front brakes, 944 turbo front brakes in the rear, ***stops really good***
Race cage, full lexan glass - except windshield, Corbeau lightweight seats, no headlights, taillights, turn signals.
Jongbloed wheels - somehow in between 2 owners ago and the last the Lindsey Racing wheels were swapped
Car weighs under 2300 lbs

Car owners of the past
So the gentleman I purchased it from owned it from 2018 to this past fathers day. He got to drive it only once before putting it into the tire wall. A frame table got it within 1/4" of the factory suspension points. The local vo-tech school helped with the reconstruction and new paint. It had a brief stint with a guy name Pedro - possibly flipper. 2nd PO is seen driving it in the first pic here. He owned it for quite some time and raced it extensively. Several track readiness inspections done at Powertech in NJ. I do enjoy the rich history that comes with this car and all the service work performed through its life.

Future of the car
So I'm not a track guy. I would love to be able to race, but don't think I can dedicate the time needed with 3 little ones. Not to mention I'm Porsche broke and more importantly I'm not sure it would fly with the wife. Maybe some DE days or occasional trips to Summit. A car you can take to the track and have some fun, but also drive it home. I plan on keeping the paint scheme for now. Would have loved the previous moss green, but that's now gone. The seller was going for an old jet fighter design. My ex-airforce neighbor loves it and says "don't change it"
Replace the lexan with real glass
Source some ungutted manual doors so I can have crank windows
Put the headlights, taillights, and turns back in along with some missing harnesses
Put the controls for those lights back in
Italian tune it a few times
Slowly acquire interior items to put back in
drive it while I build it theme
Keep it somewhat minimal

Hope you all enjoyed the read, look for more pics as I go through the process. Also, if you have any items that are taking up space and would like to donate to the build don't hesitate to PM me.
