Thanks mate.
I want to get better.... welding and playing guitar are taking longer than I would like ;)

As for the engines, yes, they are coming out pretty well. I'm quite chuffed with them!

Mike where are you at with guitar? Are you learning caged? Work hard at it, it pays off in the end with a lifetime of enjoyment. Need any direction or help PM me.

BS. Preheat every thing even thin sheet metal for a second, helps drive off moisture and contaminates. Any welding process is inputting a lot of heat right now! By warming up the area you are taking out the area shock and the area will heat up faster at lower heat input with less distortion, anybody can just throw more power at the weld. It is not until your welds get tested that you learn just because it looks good does not mean it is competent. More so with MIG. By tuning up the input you will be too hot by mid weld and trying to move faster than your wire speed so you keep making adjustments to compensate which makes all the little pops and splatters.

So go out in the garage lay down some beads and post the photos. Especially that preheated 20 gauge.

I've been at it for over 30 years! But only got back into it over the last few weeks... a friend wanted to buy one which got me interested again.
I bought a nice Maton (Aus made) back in the mid 90s... and I still have it now. Took it to be professionally set up for the first time ever.. new strings.. sounds great and feels a little easier to play now.
All good fun.

Yeh I’ve seen a few matons nice guitars, rare in the states. I’ve been doing it a long time as well and still not where I would like to be, a lot to learn. Nothing better than jamming with other people though.

Mike if you or your friend want to get better at welding there’s a guy named Jodie has a channel called welding tips and tricks. Guys done everything from aerospace to pipeline. He’s like the grandfather of YouTube welding. Great info.
Dig your engine stand wish I could justify building one.

I'm getting there as fast as I can...Electrical inspector is making up rules as he goes.
Union electrician is pulling out his hair, life in Mayberry.
