1984 3.2 starting issue

Need suggestions as where to start checking. Battery is new, motor turns over fast, but can't smell any fuel or see any smoke. Fuel delivery issue?

Getting to know our 911's: Performing some basic tests before there is a problem

I ran the fuel pressure test with the gauge I got from AnnWorx.
With the key turned to Acc position, the fuel pressure was 0.
Once the engine was actually running, the pressure immed. read 32-34 psi.
Anyone know where someone can buy a fuel pressure test that has the right fitting? female M12x1.5
$100 HF kit used to have it, supposedly, but that no longer seems to exist.

Check fuel pump is getting voltage.

Check for spark

Check for spark with a timing light while cranking.
If spark see if it will fire with a spray of starting fluid.
Have you changed out DME relay with the spare in the glovebox?

Eurospeed -- I'll echo 911obgyn's suggestion re the DME relay. It's a common point of failure on our Carreras and, if not recently replaced or known good, should be replaced as a first step. Worst case, no change after swapping in a known good one and you now have a spare for testing. If you need to order a new one first, you can also try tapping on the DME relay while trying to start and see of that changes anything. Issue here is that the DME relay triggers the fuel pump/etc. and can/does develop connectivity problems (soldier joints develop cracks, need to be re-flowed) that can prevent/hamper its ability to trigger/activate circuits key to starting/running engine.
