a non-enthusiast seller to be sure. From the description, I'd say be afraid...be very afraid.

This car sold a week or two ago for $8300. Must not have been what the buyer had envisioned. It's always amazing how much better a car looks in a grainy little picture than in person.

And here's one that sold a couple of days ago for $9200. Description is still short, but much better - sounds like a more knowledgeable seller.

911 E, S, and T were all available in 1970. Leaving the S aside, what are the differences between E and T models?

The E has MFI, 9.1:1 CR and 155bhp, the T had carbs 8.6:1 CR, and 125bhp. The S was MFI, 9.8:1 CR and 180bhp

Saw it on ebay months ago...

Saw that car on ebay a couple of months ago, the item id link is dead now, but it was a dog then as well.

Notice the low profile tires on the (comfort group)14" fuchs. The car has seen some improvements to resale, but the same conditions that made it a low dollar sale originally are still there.

Pretty red paint though, that should sell it.

Shawn.

Thumbs down

THERE ARE SOME RUST AREAS ON THE DOOR JAM AREAS.
Remembering the pictures of the rust repair up in Scotland that were posted here last year, comments like this would really scare me. Not to mention those tiny tires on the 14 inch wheels just look to "low riderish" for me.

For $8300 you could most likely do better, but I'd want to be able to crawl around underneath the car some and start poking with a screw driver. I'm of the opinion that as long as that chassis is fine, the rest can be fixed/updated as part of the joy of ownership. Personally I don't get a lot of joy out of stripping a car for rust repair.

Not sure they are 14's

I don't thinks that those are 14" Fuchs - They look more like 15x7's. The odd look is due to the owner raising the car to clear the fender lip I think.

About the oil leak - come on guys, like this is uncommon?!? At least the seller is up front about. He is presenting the car as driver - not a show car. It's 30 years old and despite being a Porsche it will probably need some work.

Not trying to defend the car - he glosses over the rust issue and it may very well be be junk, but we seem to tear into things with a little too much enthusiasm sometimes.

Regards,
Andrew M

Well siad. Hard to say what that car is worth from the pictures but for $5-6k it may be a good deal. The big question is about the rust.

My $0.02

Re: Another Ebay early 911

I was looking at the item description again.

"I WILL NOT TOLERATE NITPICKERS OR TIRE KICKERS."

We better cease and desist this discussion!

It will be interesting to see how much this car goes for. I think I paid way too much for my car, so seeing an early car go for under $5K is painful!

Chuck
