It's very unusual for a german of that time to write the number 1 like this... I also do it like that, but have aquired that habit in america because people too often have mistaken my 1 for a 7... Are you sure that tank had never been stripped before?

it was missing a large section in the rear and the bottom was pretty rough, I prefer to start fresh with some epoxy primer followed by Wurth and some sealer on top of that.
