Red face Oh The Sound!!!

I just spent the last 40 minuets driving up and down the off ramps of the 210 freeway in southern California. My new SSIs and the Bursch muffler have the sweetest sound. The on ramps on most of this freeway have walls on each side and with the window down and the exhaust exiting on the drivers side makes for the best race car exhaust note. I can’t tell how much of an improvement this set of pipes has done to this engine. I hit red line so much faster and it pulls strongly all the way up, it even feels that it would have power way past the red line (how much past the 6200 rpm is safe?).

I saw an add in Panorama from a machine shop that will bore out the throttle body and increases the butterfly size by about 4 mm, would this increased air flow and the increased fuel flow of an SC fuel distributor (past post) make an appreciable increase in power?

76 2.7 with sc grind cams

Dude, is your redline really only 6200???? My 2.7 rs half spec bastard child dosen't make noise til it gets to 6500+. Now get some RS pistons, old S cams and a set of webers and that baby wil really move

Just kidding How sweet do those ssi's look under there? I still have old steel heat exchangers, well part steel and a little rust anyway. I'm jealous!!!!

Hey JV, Sounds cool..can you elaborate a little more on the SC cam grinds on a 2.7 when I rebuilt my 2.7 I went with the 964 cam grind and I can say I definately noticed the difference.I really like to hear more on your set up.

Thanks, Jorge
