fender mount oil cooler - early 911 fitment?

I recently destroyed the oil cooler mounted in the front spoiler of my RS replica. As this car does circuit racing and tarmac rallies I am loathe to put the cooler back in the nose. It was killed during a very minor front end 'off' during a rally.

The car's tub is a 1970 911T with both battery boxes in place (only the left hand side in use).

Qn: Can I put a 3.2 style fender mounted oil cooler under my right hand front guard without having to remove the battery box? I note that There are pictures in BA's book showing oil cooling circuits which appear to show a trombone cooler in behind a battery box.

If yes, pls show me how you have done it.

Cheers - Ryan

Yes, you can. However if you remove the batter box you will get better air flow through the cooler.

My 69S has one mounted there similar to the carrera but as Chuck has pointed out airflow stinks with the batt box in place, also you need much protection from the wheel throwing off debris further limiting the airflow. Best luck...
