John,

Physically where do you check the voltage output ? Sorry, I am still pretty unfamiliar with the wiring on the car.

I found last night the two speed sensors rubber sheaths [covering wiring] were pretty well toast. So, I took them off their mounts and cleaned the sensor ends up and put a mess of electrical tape on the wires. The sheaths are pretty much gone where they pass thru the 'firewall' too. Don't know if this might be a contributor. I going to also clean/check/reconnect the ground strap under the car.

The idle microswitch seems to work as it clicks and I have continuity there. I am going to look more closely at the vac sys. I am not too sure there are two hoses on the idle microswith as the pict above from Steve shows [I do have the little loop hose]. I will check on that other one. I have a diagram showing the source [hope I can identify in the car].

thanks,
todd

My car's surging and stalling issues are entirely solved. Turned out as follows. Tested myriad items as suggested by lots of you folks, all items fared well. Car was still basically undriveable.

Somebody suggested that maybe the AFM had 'gotten lazy' over time. Mine has never been cracked open. So, I positioned the switch in the DME to position 4 [leans it out 2% - 4% from stock]. I've got to say it's running like a new car having done this. No surging, no stalling. I'd never have gotten the thing to this point without the help of this board.

Thanks to all -

todd
