3 days at NHIS in the Rain

I finally went to my first DE this weekend. It was 3 days at New Hampshire Intn'l Speedway, and it was awesome. It rained the whole time, except for Sunday afternoon. It was a very good learning experience for me. The rain kept everyone slow, so I had more time to think and "feel". When it was a little drier on Sunday, the line stayed the same, but the speeds increased. I am definitely hooked!

Saturday, there were some charity laps for the Make A Wish Foundation, and the kids got a few laps around the tack in some pretty nice cars. The rain held off just long enough for the fundraising laps. I saw nothing but smiles from both drivers and passengers:

Here is one of me. It sort of shows the rain and track conditions:

More pictures of both here.

I am hereby declaring myself an addict!

I'd like to just tag along on this post...thanks. We've had the "Porsche Spa Days" in Belgium 23-24-25 May and I ran my Carrera, first time ever on a circuit, on Friday the 24th: pouring rain from dawn to dusk... I try never to get caught out in the rain with my Carrera (no mean feat in this country, BTW!) and Spa is a very beautiful track, curves in all directions, and without experience in rainy weather driving, I was ...er... a mite tense. All in all it went well, and only "almost" lost control twice (particularly once, going "straight ahead" in a braking operation IN a curve -no comment please- but got back on track when I stopped trying to apply the brakes, resulting in some wiggle-wagging of the tail but nothing all too scary). The rain had me going very carefully and, well, I learned something, I guess.
Incidentally, during this meeting there was a Guinness Book of Wold Record attempt at, if I'm not mistaken, the greatest number of Porsche cars in any single "parade" (or something like that). I'm not sure if "we" got the record, but there were 638 Porsches on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (which would -unofficially- constitute a record, but leave it at the folks in Ireland to figure out...). Translated into plain English, it means we drove around the circuit twice (being filmed by the Guinness people), meaning: driving the first half of the circuit and then: the biggest Porsche-only traffic jam I ever seen! I'm waiting for my clubbies to post the pictures on their website, when they're on, I'll post a link so you can all have a look.
