Smoke from front wheel arch?
I’ve noticed white smoke coming from the drivers side front wheel arch after stopping in the wet. This only happens occasionally, but when it does there is quite a bit a lot of smoke.
I’m assuming that I’ve splashed water up into the wheel arch and what I’m seeing is steam from water hitting the oil cooler… is my assumption right or should I be worried? |

RHD car? Or do you have coolers in both wheel wells? Then yes...steam from the cooler would be possible.

Yes it's RHD. It's a '76 Carerra 3 with the old trombone oil cooler. Smoke only comes out the arch with the cooler in it. I’m not very familiar with the car yet so I thought I should ask.
Thanks, I’m feeling reassured. |

Steam from splashing water on a warm cooler. To be expected.
