AC temp switch at center console question

Howdy-

Since I've read a lot that the AC is sub par in many 911's, is it possible to remove the temp switch from the center console (the one with the thermo probe to the smug's box) and just jump the wiring past it? I have it out already, and it doesn't appear to be in great shape. They're also about $80 to replace...if I remove the switch, would I have any possibilty of freezing the coil in the smugs box?

Thanks!
BG

I think what you would effectively be doing is allowing the compressor to run all of the time as opposed top cycling on or off. It could possibly freeze up, or worse put undue strain on the compressor since it would always be running.

Nick:

When my switch went bad, I temporarily wired in a manual switch. The evaporator had a tendency to freeze up and I had to manually cycle the a/c on and off.

I replaced mine with a generic one that was near identical (even same manufacturer) that I purchased from a local automotive a/c company. I can find the part number and manufacturer if you need it. I think they use these in older motorhome roof a/c.
