Front air vent rain catch / duct?

Anyone know where to get what the arrow is pointing too? I deleted my hvac stuff from my rally car and would like to vent some fresh air into the cabin. I have little room as my gas tank is now mounted there, but there is some room left.

The solutions I've seen for this are only ran-catchers, and don't direct air. Mostly homemade. You might have room to install the gutted remains of the factory fresh air fan housing? It has provisions for a drain.

I haven't kept up on your progress, have you had an event yet?

I’d that your car? If, not what year car do you have?

That’s a short wheelbase car in the photo. If you have a LWB, I don’t think the rain tray shown will fit your car - likely NLA. It’s only a fibreglass part anyhow so you could mold/fabricate your own.

I made my own from aluminum, some rivets, and construction adhesive. (no TIG welder)
They blow tons of fresh air and no water gets into the car, even in a downpour.

Smart Racing Products used to sell a bolt in solution. It was fabricated aluminum and had houses to direct air into the cabin. Looked relatively simple but the devil is in the details of course.

DP Motorsports makes a nice looking kit that includes a fan and takes up a lot less room than the factory fresh air system:

I've seen some nice homemade ones that use NASCAR brake duct or marine inline fans to move the air. Doesn't look too complicated if you can weld aluminum or work with composites.

Looks like the DP unit would work, but I don’t know if I need a blower. The fabricated one looks great too. I would need to exit the ducts down or towards the rear.

If you discharge the air out the bottom, there is no way to separate the water from the air. You will duct water into your car if you drive in rain...or wash your car.
Mine exits out the rear with the rain hats to divert water away from the air outlets.

The box pressurizes at speed. I've never found myself wishing I had more airflow.

I’ll design one for 3D printing in the next couple weeks. Should be able to get the exit to work and screen water.

Did you have to modify the steering column to clear the fuel cell?

looks like there's a SWB cowl drain piece in the classifieds: Swb cowl drain pan and vent screen

@3literpwr: are you thinking you'll 3d print a vent box with air outlets and drain? would love to see what you come up with!

No, I didn’t need to mod the steering rack at all outside removing the cover. This was a better and safer solution for a rally car. I split the original gas tank as the floor for my rally spare.

And the booster removal is also a killer mod.

That looks like an early pedal cluster modified to accept dual MCs and a cable-throttle.

Am I on the mark here?
I'm already using a cable throttle for my 964 manifold (very different than yours) and brakes are my next big project.

It’s the stock SC pedal box, modded for twin masters. Throttle cable is Tuthill Porsche.

Willing to bet the visual clue Chris was using to ID the early pedal box is that clutch pedal.... most def. not an SC pedal.

You might have missed my question earlier - has the car made it's competition debut?

No, it’s still not 💯 done. I tried to make Oregon trail as my first event, but the car was just not there. It’s with the exhaust builder now and I’ll do my final tune after that.
Still need my intercom and a few other small bits. I think Gorman Ridge will be the first event now. California has a fraction of the access to rally that we had back in Michigan. There was two national and one regional event alone.

I'll take that as a "no"...... way too clean, still!
