Reproduction Dashboards?

I have been eyeing the reproduction dashboards currently being sold on Fleabay by a seller named "Benzrestorer" in CA. Has anyone ordered from them and can speak to the quality/fitment before I take the plunge? They have a 20% restocking fee so I dont want a misfire. Any commentary would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Interesting. Good price.

Benzrestorer on eBay's sale

Ask for pictures of the underside and post them here. I wonder what it's made out of.

I bought a factory replacement and its fitment wasn't great, specifically the ends had gaps, but the material, look and feel is quality as you would expect from Porsche.

My worry would that this would look cheap. The photos are small and I can't really tell what the quality is. It's something that you look at A LOT as it's right in front of your view and it surrounds the gauges obviously.

I've also had a dash recovered. I think that's the best option, as you get the best fit and if you pick the right upholsterer, it looks great too.

I've seen one of these in person and helped install it. Its very rubbery, but fitment was good. I didnt like the way it looked right out of the box(cheap like Duane said) but my buddy didn't mind it and installed it. I probably would have had it wrapped in leather and it would have been indistinguishable from a factory leather covered dash.

That's a great price, look @ what used SC ones bring. Hopefully no fitment issues. Looks like the material at least has a "grain" to it & it comes with tabs & clips. Heck, even if you don't like the way it comes bare, just get it wrapped in leather or a good quality vinyl.

There is a lumpy paint you can spray paint these with too.

I've just requested pics of the underside of one of their dashboards.
If I get pics, I'll share them.

I just installed one of these (different seller but likely from the same source). I had to do some minor trimming in places to get it to fit. All of the bolt and fastener holes lined up great though. I ended up modifying the way the top secures down onto the dash frame of the car by JB welding bolts into the holes so I could secure the top with nuts under the dash.

The only regret I have is not wrapping the dash in some leather vinyl before installing as the ends had some shipping rash on them. Oh well.

This is great. IndyAlex do you have an opinion on the vinyl and does it look OEM? Is it an acceptable alternative? Thanks

I would definitely re-wrap it if you're particular about it matching the OEM vinyl. Mine is more on the very dark gray side. I'll probably take it out at some point and wrap it in black leather vinyl. I'll try and snap a few photos tomorrow morning for you.

I bought a replacement dash from Lakewell. Price is very reasonable and it's brand new. Part looks great but I haven't installed it yet so I can't comment on how it fits, but they generally get great reviews. Shipping from Europe was less than I expected. They also have plenty of other interior parts at reasonable prices.
