72 911T Oil Lines
I did an extensive search on this topic, so be gentle if it's already been posted, but I have some questions on the oil lines.
I'm in the middle of my first engine drop (going smoothly thanks to 101 Projects), and I noticed that I might need some oil line replacement/repair when the engine goes back in. The problem is, I really can't find any oil lines for a '72 911T. This system appears to be unique to other years. Anyhow, the S-Hose seems pretty dry (I'll know more when I clean the years of road grime off of it.) and the line that goes from the oil tank to the filter header (911 207 315 01) has a slightly leaky connection. These hose connections are not typical hose crimps, but solid aluminum hose connections. Is there a way to remove this hose, and re-install a new one? I might be able to get some help with this one, as the Parker Hannifin fluid connectors group is a supplier of mine. But any ideas on a '72 911T s-hose (911 207 318 01)?? Is there a flexible alternative to this? Thanks!

Jay,
The oil line metal ends unscrew from inside the rubber hose. I can't remember if it's clockwise or counter clockwise. You can use hydraulic hose from your local hydraulic hose repair shop if the hose is totally shot. If the leak is at the joint, you can unscew the end, the trim about a 1/4 inch off the hose and scew it back together. Sure beats buying "PORSCHE" oil lines$$$$$. Good Luck! Kevin 72 911T/E |

I am assuming you tried ordering these hoses through the official Porsche parts system and they were either NLA or very expensive. One alternative to the suction S-hose ("bent question mark" hose?) is to replace this with a piece of bent tubing with sections of straight hose on each end (perhaps cut from a standard Porsche S-hose). Or cut the standard S-hose in the middle and use the two pieces with a simple 180 degree loop of bent tubing? If you don't adapt a standard Porsche S-hose be sure and use hose rated for hot oil service and not radiator hose. Do not reduce the diameter of this suction hose/tubing as it feeds the oil pressure pump. Cheers, Jim
