Wheel finishing (Paint not anodizing)

There are many threads on here about some very good shops to have your Fuchs refinished. We should seek out the best as the anodizing needs to be done right.

Does anyone know of a good shop for repainting wheels like Cookie Cutters or Phone Dials (that you have experience with)?

Edit: paint or powder coat

Thanks

I would have them powder coated.

I'd skip powder and do Cerakote, my anecdotal experience with powder coating wheels is mixed; my current set of Fuchs are flaking after only 2 years but I have a set of steelies on my truck that have been going strong for 6 years, both prepped and coated by the same shop. Look for a firearms coating company nearby and give them a ring, wheels shouldn't be a problem and price is probably the same.

I agree Cerakote is the way to go.

Never powder coat anything. Especially wheels where it's thick enough that you won't be able to cracks under a hard candy layer. Cerakote is your best bet. It's extremely thin, durable and UV safe in both C and V series.

Custom caramel with a light matte clear.

Thanks for all the replies.

So if one were to do Cerakote and take them to a firearms refinisher, for example, I imagine the wheels would have to be completely prepped (curb rash, etc) and ready for refinish...

Depends on the vendor. I would go here and find a certified applicator close to you.

You can do them yourself for around a $100 if you have a bead blaster, an oven and a gun with a .8 to 1. Tip. Tape with 3m blue pinstripe tape. If you don’t have an oven even the air dry series is better than paint.
