Help - Cabrio Door Seal Fitment

I just replaced the roof to body seal on my ‘84 3.2L cabrio. When I went to install the new door seal, I noticed that the roof/body seal ends with a sort of taper (see photo). The end of of the door seal where it meets the end of this roof/body seal does not appear to make any accommodation to mate up with this taper. Anybody know the procedure here? Am I supposed to cut the door seal at the end somehow so that these two seals play nicely together?? FYI - almost done putting the car back together after paint — it’s been fun but I’m about ready to be done with this project.

Thanks!!
