Door panels withou holes!

Hello all,

I see beautiful inside door panels created by Pelican members shown with no visible
screws.

I am ready to do mine but the current panels that I have are kept in place with 4mm
outside screws.

I removed the plastic inside rivets on my doors ('84 doors) where the screws goes, and
the hole is square!

What are you guys using? and what size hole must I drill on the doors?

I searched without results...

Thanks in advance,

Jose

I have made custom door panels using Auveco 808 clips (see link). I think I drilled 1/8 inch holes but before drilling any new holes you should see if the clip will fit in the existing holes. Fit the wood panel to the door and drill the holes. Install the clips through the panel then put your foam and upholstery over it. You won't be able to see the clips through the upholstery. I have used 1/8-in Lauan hardwood for the paneling.

Not sure if anyone reads books anymore but the Automotive Upholstery Handbook is a great reference.

I used the same plastic clips which are used at the top section of the door panel. Drilled holes in the new panels and also in the door around the bottom section.

No more ugly screws around the bottom

Cheers

Likely goes without saying…put a block of wood or some other barrier behind the inner door frame before drilling.

I used Expanded PVC. I think it was 5mm.
